Full-Day Summer Camps

  • Full day camps are $375 per week.
  • Optional: AM Extended Care starts between 8am – 9am at $20 for the week.
  • Optional: PM Extended Care starts between 5pm – 6pm at $20 for the week.

Half-Day Summer Camps

  • AM/PM Half day camps are $250 per week.
  • Extended care is not available for half day campers.

How can I use my credit from last year?

Ashburn/Herndon campers – You can go into your Active account and use the credit to purchase camp. We are happy to assist with processing the credit by emailing us at admin@scigenius.com

Arlington campers will need to contact Arlington county and they will process the credit on our behalf.

Health & Safety Questions

How many kids are in the camp?

This year due to social distancing we have reduce our camp size. For safety reasons we will offer classes in pocket by age group.

Are face masks required?

Yes, we require all our staff, campers & parents to wear a face mask. If children forget their face mask, we will provide a complementary mask.

How is the procedure for signing in & out?

Our signing in & out will be contactless.

Signing in – Parents will not be allowed to enter the building. Our camp counselors will greet you and your child outside of the building and check the camper. One of our counselors will take your child into the building.
Signing out – We will ask parents to call, and your child will be escorted by our camp counselor.

Do you check the child’s temperature?

Yes, we will check your child temperature when they check-in and a second one during the day.

How often do you clean & disinfect?

We will be cleaning & disinfecting on a regular basis. The schools will also have a detail clean.

When & how will physical distancing be maintained throughout the school day?

In the classroom, hallways, and bathrooms, students will maintain 6 feet distance.

Is the camp inside or out?

In some locations in Arlington, our camp is going to be outside. If the camp is inside, we will try to go outside most of the day.

How will the camp limit the number of shared items?

Campers will have an assign boxes for items such as crayons, paper etc. Toys that cannot be shared for a ball will be clean and disinfect after each use.

What happens if a child test positive for COVID-19?

If a child is tested positive within their pocket, we will require everyone in that group to quarantine for 14 days. Every child in that pocket will need to have a negative test before returning to camp.

An email will be sent to parents informing them of the positive case.

General Frequently Asked Questions

What are the age/grade requirements for camp?

Our camp offerings are for rising PreK – 8th Grade. Please note that children entering PreK in the fall are not eligible to attend, as our PreK & Kindergarten camps are designed for 4 and 5 years old (Must be 4 before the summer camp season).

Campers will be grouped by age and / or skill level to allow them to learn and apply their new skills at a pace that suitable for them. For example: Group 1 (4 – 6 yrs.) Group 2 (7 – 9 yrs.) Group 3 (10 – 13 yrs.)

Are there outdoor activities?

We believe that campers should enjoy nature and be a kid. We will have a recess period of 30 minutes in the morning & afternoon. Some camps may do specific lessons outside at the Camps Director discretion.

How do we handle the summer heat?

  • Campers will have regular access to water fountains or drinking water taps. We will encourage campers to drink regularly & fill up throughout the day
  • SciGenius counselors will plan lower activity games/activities when the sun is the strongest and will take advantage of shaded areas throughout the day
  • If sunscreen is packed with camper, counselor will allow time and provide reminders for application
  • Campers will be outside for no more than 30 minutes during the peak heat of the day

What are the camp hours?

The camp hours are from 9:00am to 5:00pm. You may drop off your child no earlier than 9:00am and pickup no later than 5:00pm unless you have paid for the extended camp services.

Half-Day campers are to be picked up at 12:00pm for AM session or 4:00pm PM session.

When can I drop off and pick up my child?

Campers should arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled camp start. Please pick up your student on time. Pickups after 5-minute grace period will result in late pickup fee of $15 every 15 minutes. Please inform us if you know you will be late picking up your student. Instruct your student to wait inside the building and you should escort them from the building to your car. During peak times the parking lot is crowded. Please take into consideration that our campers may include young children. Please drive slowly and carefully.

Where can I drop off and pick up my child in Ashburn?

Ashburn location is a pickup & drop off for campers. We will have two locations:

  • One Loudoun Trader Joes – 8:30 AM & 5:00 PM
  • Moorfield Station Brambleton – 8:30 AM & 5:00 PM

Transfer Policy

Can I transfer my camp session to a different week/location?

We make scheduling your summer easy. Switch to another session or location any time for free. No transfers after 3pm the Friday before your camp week. Contact us at admin@scigenius.com.

Waitlist Policy

What happens if the week of camp I want to sign up for is full?

If your week of camp is already full, you can join the waitlist online. There is no cost to join a waitlist, and no obligation to sign up once you’re on it. If you have questions about a particular waitlist or your odds of getting to the top of it, email us admin@scigenius.com.

What happens if I’m on a waitlist and a space opens?

If space opens up and you’re next on the list, we’ll send an email letting you know. You’ll have three business days to sign up for that week or class. If you don’t sign up, we’ll email the next family on the list to offer them the spot.

Grouping Campers Policy

How do you group kids together at camp?

At SciGenius, we group campers by age in three groups, 4 to 6 years (Group 1), 7 to 9 years (Group 2) and 10 to 13 years (group 3)—we have carefully customize our curriculum for each group.

What is your association with the school?

SciGenius is independent of King Abdullah Academy and have no association with the school.
